1) Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency on Tribal Lands The U.S. Department of Energy requests proposals for First Steps Toward Developing Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency on Tribal Lands. Areas of interest include: Strategic planning, energy options analysis, energy organization development, and human capacity building, related to sustainable energy efficiency implementation and/or renewable energy development. 2) Energy Efficiency in Indian Country The U.S. Department of Energy requests proposals for Energy Efficiency Development and Deployment in Indian Country. Areas of interest include: 1) Feasibility studies to assess and determine the technical and economic feasibility of energy efficiency improvements to existing Tribally-owned buildings, and 2) Installation of energy efficiency improvements at existing Tribally-owned buildings. 3) Renewable Energy in Indian Country The U.S. Department of Energy requests proposals for Renewable Energy Development and Deployment in Indian Country. Areas of interest include: 1) Feasibility Studies to determine the technical and economic viability of a future renewable project, 2) Development (pre-construction) activities leading to the deployment of renewable energy projects, and 3) Deployment (construction) of renewable energy projects for power production. 4) Weatherization Formula Grants The U.S. Department of Energy requests proposals for the Weatherization Assistance Program Formula Grant. The purpose of WAP is to increase the energy efficiency of dwellings owned or occupied by low-income persons, reduce residential expenditures, and improve health and safety. Lead applicants must be agencies that administer the WAP program. Approx. $180 million expected to be available, 50 awards anticipated. Proposals due date varies by prime applicants program year. 5) Clean Diesel Finance Program The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests proposals for the SmartWay Finance Program. This program supports projects that reduce diesel emissions through the creation of national, tribal, regional, state or local finance programs. As an example, programs that provide the loan recipient with a specific financial incentive to purchase or lease eligible retrofitted vehicles or equipment. $6 million expected to be available, up to 2 awards anticipated. 6) Transit Workforce Development The U.S. Department of Transportation requests proposals for the Innovative Transit Workforce Development Program. This RFP will support projects that
demonstrate innovative workforce development practices and programs occurring in public transportation. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, worker training and retention, pre-employment training, and new innovative programs. $1 million expected to be available, individual awards NTE $500K. 8) EnergyPlus Development The National Renewable Energy Laboratory announces its intent to issue an RFP for development assistance for the U.S. Department of Energy’s whole building analysis program, EnergyPlus. EnergyPlus is used by design professionals and consultants around the world to assess multiple building design alternatives to increase the energy efficiency of commercial buildings, reduce negative environmental impacts, improve economic performance, and improve the level of comfort for building occupants. 10) Reducing Children's Environmental Exposures The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests proposals for Building Capacity to Reduce Children's Environmental Exposures In Child-Occupied Settings. This program seeks to address children's environmental health in underserved communities by building capacity to reduce exposures in child-occupied settings. Targeted health hazards include, but are not limited to: Lead, mercury, and arsenic; air pollutants, both indoor and ambient; radon; carbon monoxide; asbestos; and water pollution. $1.5 million expected to be available, up to 20 awards anticipated. 11) Community Action and the Environment The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests proposals for the Community Action for a Renewed Environment (CARE) Program. CARE is community-based, community-driven, multimedia demonstration program designed to help communities understand and reduce risks due to toxic pollutants and environmental concerns from all sources. $2 million expected to be available, up to 9 awards anticipated. 12) Water Resources Research The U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey, and the National Institutes for Water Resources request proposals for the Water Resources Research National Competitive Grants Program. This program supports research on improving and enhancing the nation’s water supply, in areas including, but not limited to: Enhancement of water supply infrastructure; integrated management of ground and surface waters; the resilience of public water supplies; and the role of economics and institutions in water supply and in coping with extreme hydrologic conditions. $1 million expected to be available, up to 6 awards anticipated. 13) Agriculture & Food Research Initiative - Foundational Programs The U.S. Department of Agriculture requests proposals for the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative – Foundational Programs. The Foundation Programs support research, education, and extension as well integrated programs that address key problems of national, regional, and multi-state importance in sustaining all components of agriculture. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: Renewable energy, natural resources, and environment; Agriculture systems and technology; and Agriculture economics and rural communities. $78 million expected to be available, up to 420 awards anticipated. 14) Irrigation CD The U.S. Department of Agriculture seeks bids for the production of training CD, using Flash technology, to educate agricultural irrigators in proper Irrigation Water Management procedures. The CD will incorporate interactive learning components including, instructive text, photos, graphs, video, pdfs, and quizzes. 16) Carbon Reduction Supply The Bonneville Environmental Foundation seeks to build a portfolio of certified carbon reduction supply on behalf of one of its clients in order to reach significant carbon reduction goals. Eligible projects will be U.S. based in order to support domestic environmental and economic benefits. Specific areas of interest include certified carbon reductions from renewable energy, energy efficiency, forestry, and other clean energy. 17) Sustainable Forestry The Sustainable Forestry Initiative requests proposals for the Conservation and Community Partnerships Grants. This program supports partnerships between organizations interested in improving forest management in the U.S. and Canada. Areas of interest include: The role of certified forests in emerging bioenergy markets; avoidance of controversial sources such as illegal logging in the global supply chain; improved wildlife habitat management and conservation of biodiversity; and community-based projects such as those that address management of culturally important lands. In addition, the Initiative seeks to support forestry education programs for children and green building projects for low-income residents. Up to $235K expected to be available.
